Expo 2015 - Brasilian Pavilion

Brazil is part of the Universal Exhibition that will take place in Milan from May 1st to October 31st, 2015. The participation of Brazil has been organized by the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (Apex- Brasil), under the coordination of the Ministry of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade (MDIC). Thanks to the theme chosen - "Feeding the world with solutions" – Brazil will confirm its positioning as a major producer and exporter in the food sector, as well as show its ability and skills in maximizing food production and meeting global demand by leveraging on advanced and sustainable technologies. Brazil sees its presence at EXPO Milano 2015 as an opportunity to raise awareness on its investments in research and development, technology and innovation, which are all key to the agro-industrial activities of the Country. The main commitment is to maintain high productivity rates while, at the same time, protecting the environment and safeguarding the biodiversity of Brasil. "We are certain that Expo 2015 will be a welcome opportunity to strengthen Brazil's leadership as a major world producer of food; a Country willing and able to meet the demands of a multitude of markets," says the President of Apex-Brasil David Barioni Neto, Commissioner General of Brazil for Expo Milano. "We will show how Brazilian agriculture uses advanced technologies that enable increased productivity by using fewer resources - while preserving the biological diversity of Brazil, which is essential for the planet," adds Mr Barioni Neto. Brazil is today one of the main supplier of agricultural and food products, which account for 43 % of total exports of the country. During the last 20 years Brazil has significantly increased investments in fields such as nanotechnology, environmental and territorial management, sustainable agriculture, agro-energy and the genetic improvement of plants to adapt to different conditions of soil and climate. These factors, combined with an innovative and technologically advanced industry, boosted the exports of Brazilian agricultural and food products, which are today present in more than 200 markets worldwide. The concept and the pavilion The concepts of Technology, Culture and Sharing are at the very heart of the theme "Feeding the world with solutions" that substantiate the presence of Brasil at Expo 2015. Technological developments are the real engine of the agri-food industry of Brazil, making the Country a reliable, efficient and innovative partner. Culture is key to understanding Brazil’s diversity and the richness of its several hethnic heritages. Brazil’s cultural diversity is shown within the Brazilian Pavilion thanks to a range of local artifacts as well as several examples of its culinary traditions. The concept of sharing, eventually, is the engine to boost the process of food democratization, aiming at ensuring a fair and adequate access to food worldwide. Designed by the studio Arthur Casas, the Brazilian Pavilion develops the key concepts of technology, culture and sharing starting from the powerful symbol of the net. Flexible, fluid and decentralized, the net turns into a physical metaphor of the system of connections and relationships that, combined as a whole, make Brazil a global leader in food production.
