Expo Milano 2015, Coldiretti presents its first balance: 88% of visitors overcome by the enthusiasm expressed

Expoenthusiasm for 88% of the visitors to the Universal Exposition. This is the result that emerges from the first complete survey on the balance of the event developed by Coldiretti and the Ixè Institute, presented during the Coldiretti Forum “Expo: The legacy and challenges for the future”, held in the Conference Centre on the exposition site. And the enthusiasm in question was also confirmed by the number of visits to Expo Milano 2015: indeed one visitor in 3 had been twice. “If it is true that the Universal Exposition has reached the expected results, which are today visible to everyone, this has also been possible thanks to the widespread common commitment on the part of the large number of parties, institutions and associations involved who have believed in the success of the event right from the very beginning”, stated Giuseppe Sala, Sole Commissioner of the Government for Milano 2015. “And, out of all of these,– he added – Coldiretti is certainly in one of the highest positions ; let me thank you all so very much. Please be assured that my gratitude is truly sincere and not just superficial”. “We were one of the first to believe and invest in Expo Milano 2015, with our rapid decision to sponsor its symbol, the Tree of Life and animate our ‘No Farmers no party’ pavilion on a daily basis with the participation of farmers from all the regions of Italy - responded Roberto Moncalvo, President of Coldiretti -. A decision that was recognised and rewarded by the reaction of our many enthusiastic visitors but also by our belief that the exposition in Milan has helped to restore dignity and value to work in the fields where 570 million companies are engaged in the world”. Maurizio Martina, Minister for Agricultural, Food and Forestry Policies joined in thanking the participants: “The work done together with Coldiretti has profoundly marked the Universal Exposition, helping to again make the agricultural question one of the items on the world’s agenda and at the same time, bringing the Italian agricultural model into today’s reality”. While, according to Giuliano Poletti, Minister of Employment, “meeting people who say that they are proud to have visited Expo 2015 is something we can truly be proud of. This means – he concluded – that the message has got through and that in Italy it is possible to establish common objectives which can be achieved if each of us takes responsibility for their own choices”. In addition to Sala, Moncalvo and Martina, Roberto Weber, President of the Ixè Institute, Giuseppe De Rita, President of Censis, Luigi Scordamaglia, President of Federalimentare, Marco Pedroni, President of Coop Italia, Angelo Trocchia, President of Unilever Italia, Paolo De Castro, Permanent Rapporteur for the Committee on Agriculture and Rural Development for free trade between the USA and EU (TTIP) of the European Parliament, and Raimondo Serra, negotiator of the European Committee on the TTIP also participated in the Forum.
