CASA #seat has programmed the screening of different films from the line-up of the Spanish #film platform Filmin for the months of July and August. Starting on 21 July, films will be shown on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays in two categories: “Home-grown Talent”, featuring works by Spanish directors, and a selection of “Family Entertainment”.

Among the films in the “Home-grown Talent” category, the public will be able to enjoy Spanish feature films such as Mi vacío y yo (My Emptiness and I), a drama directed by Adrián Silvestre and nominated for Best Original Screenplay at the Gaudí Awards; A stormy night, by David Moragas and nominated for 12 Goya Awards; the comedy Ramona, by Andrea Bagney; El vientre del mar (The Belly of the Sea) by Agustí Villaronga and the winner of 6 awards at the Málaga Spanish #film Festival; and Barcelona, nit d’estiu (Barcelona Summer Night), the feature #film debut of Dani de la Orden; or Un efecto óptico (An Optical Illusion), the sci-fi comedy directed by Juan Cavestany.

Children can also enjoy #cinema at CASA #seat on Saturdays at 12 noon with films such as O Menino e o Mundo (Boy and the World), nominated for an Oscar for Best Animated #film in 2016; Le Petit Prince (The Little Prince), the first animated adaptation of Antoine de Saint-Exupéry’s classic; or the short animated film Zog, Dragons and Heroines, directed by Daniel Snaddon and Max Lang, among others.

Tributes to renowned artists

In addition to #film screenings, CASA #seat will also be hosting other events in the months of July and August. Some of them will focus on paying tribute to renowned artists such as #pablopicasso and Roberto Bolaño.

On Saturday 15 July, writers #estebanfeunedecolombi, #leofelipecampos, #silviaardevol, #marccaellas, #jorgecarrion and other surprise guests will take part in “Los críticos también lloran (Critics also cry)”, a tribute to Roberto Bolaño, the Chilean writer and poet who lived in Barcelona’s Raval neighbourhood. On the day of the 20th anniversary of Bolaño’s death, #marccaellas will direct the literary performance that he himself created and which recalls the character and work of the author of the emblematic novel 2666.

On the 22nd, CASA #seat is hosting “Anatomia d’un desig (The anatomy of a dream)”, a show by Fèlix Pons based on Picasso’s play Le Désir attrapé par la queue, to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the death of the Malaga-born artist. With this piece, Pons aims to showcase one of Picasso’s lesser-known sides, that of a playwright, through the surrealist text created by the artist, which was a cry for freedom, resistance and the vindication of the poetic act in one of the darkest moments of the 20th century.

Gastronomy and artificial intelligence round off the summer schedule

On 3 July, CASA #seat will be staging a new session of “Moments Estel·lars”, this time with the participation of the three Michelin-starred chefs Sergio and Javier Torres and Enrique Tomás, the owner of the world’s largest chain of ham shops. The meeting will focus on Barcelona’s international profile through gastronomy and the reasons for its success.

On the 10th, there will be a meeting entitled “How artificial intelligence is revolutionising marketing: changes, challenges and opportunities”. Led by David Hurtado, Innovation Lead at Microsoft Spain and Artificial Intelligence specialist, attendees will learn about the role that AI can play in the future of marketing, what its challenges are and how to make the most of it.

Final days to enjoy the exhibition “Illustrating Barcelona”

The art exhibit “Illustrating Barcelona” will stay on in the space due to popular demand and can be visited until 29 July. In collaboration with The Barcelonian, the exhibition pays tribute to the weekly magazine The New Yorker and features 30 illustrations created by artists from #barcelona or linked to the city. Since it was inaugurated on 9 May, visitors have been able to vote for their favourite illustration, the winner being the work by artist Giselfust entitled “BCN2030”, which shows a futuristic vision of personal mobility.
