#PedraliPalaceofWonders at HostMilano 2019 - The collections of the Italian company for the hospitality industry

Pedrali, the Italian manufacturer of contemporary #design furniture for contract and residential projects, takes part in HostMilano, the world leading trade fair for professional operators dedicated to the world of catering and hospitality, which presents future trends and best solutions for a successful location.

From 18 to 22 October #pedrali, thanks to its experience in the #hospitality and hôtellerie industry, presents its latest collections in FieraMilano Rho (Hall 11, Stand A27 A35 B28 B36). The #PedraliPalaceofWonders booth, designed by the Milan based architectural studio Calvi Brambilla, welcomes visitors at the entrance of Hall 11. A contemporary setting with an elegant and minimal style, where people discover a sequence of four rooms with real interiors in which the mood is defined by the products themselves. The stand covers a surface area of 250 sq.m and has a single volume with a markedly architectural feel; it features longitudinal openings set at a 45° angle that create seamless visual continuity between the inside and out; allowing visitors who are strolling along the corridors to peek in and set off on a journey to discover the “Palace of Wonders”. An imposing entrance welcomes guests in a wide lounge area furnished with pastel coloured seating units from the Buddy collection by Busetti Garuti Redaelli, combined with the low tables of the same collection, which contrast with the warm earthy hue of the floor.

On the left there is a setting that recalls the interiors of a restaurant where the Italian company showcases the new Jazz chairs, combined with Fluxo tables by Luca Casini. This collection’s widening product presented at Host 2019 completes the successful collection of armchairs and stools that furnishes, among others, the Caffé Fernanda inside the Pinacoteca di Brera in Milan, the DoubleTree by Hilton Lingotto in Turin and the restaurant of the Carnoustie Golf Link in Scotland. The harmony of shapes, ergonomics and elegance of this collection characterize the chair, with the upholstered seat and backrest, supported by a light steel structure. On the right there is an outdoor space with blooming plants on the walls. The key feature of the set is Tribeca collection by CMP #design, which is inspired by the classic Sixties patio chairs made from steel and woven cord. Tribeca is one of the products selected for the ADI #design Index and competes for the Compasso d’Oro 2020.

A hallway separates these spaces from the rooms of the Palace of Wonders, which outline real settings of the hospitality industry, all characterized by a strong graphic sign, a cut, interrupting the composition and leaving space for a rational, explanatory component. The actual elements used for the set – from the floor to the walls, even the decorative objects – have been cut. The goal is to put the focus on the products themselves. The narrative rhythm is also accentuated by the presence of tall green plants that give an escape feeling, interspersing each set.

The first set outlines an elegant environment, like some of the world’s top restaurants. A cosy, minimal space featuring neutral hues in Northern European style, paired with a classic Italian concept of elegance and simplicity, suggested by plaster bas-reliefs and ornaments on the walls. Héra, the armchair designed by Patrick Jouin, which embodies the concept of lightness fusing it with that of comfort and cosiness, takes centre stage. The key feature of this chair is wood - the ultimate natural raw material - which the renowned French designer chose to preserve by giving it an extremely refined, fluid form. The set is completed by the Inox tables and the Tamara suspension lamps, by Basaglia Rota Nodari.

The next set depicts a bistro with tables and chairs which are arranged both indoors and on the terrace, featuring a Ceppo di Gré floor that recreates a perfect outdoor setting. The two levels communicate by means of the classic floor-to-ceiling windows, offering diners inside the chance to look straight onto the pavement outside; with a stylised window with frames and curtains in a bright red colour. The ideal solution for providing continuity between indoor and outdoor spaces is Remind, the innovative polypropylene chair designed by Eugeni Quitllet, which echoes the soft, rounded curves of wooden chairs from the late 19th century. The Elliot tables by Patrick Jouin, with their organic yet elegant forms, complete this composition. A special version of Remind allows anyone to release their creative energy by decorating and customising the backrest with tiny coloured pixels

The third room is an urban restaurant. The split-level architecture is simple and the choice of elements such as the flooring and wall panelling recalls the place that influenced this set: the Jamaica collection by CMP #design. Indeed, the chair was inspired by the famous Bar Jamaica in Milan's Via Brera, a legendary hub for intellectuals and artists in the twentieth century. The Jamaica collection thus becomes an expression of creative sociability. It has a modernist design, yet looks to the past to reinterpret historic forms with a touch of humour. The combination of different materials such as wood, metal and upholstery exemplifies Italian “knowhow”, one of Pedrali’s strong points.

Folk collection, by CMP #design, is the key feature of the set depicting a modern and welcoming bakery with green walls. The friendly feel of this seating, with the warmth of ash, the compact dimensions and soft, human lines seamlessly convey the idea of a chair that speaks a universal language. The set is completed by Stylus tables and Giravolta wireless lightings by Basaglia Rota Nodari.
