How #starbucks is helping to feed neighbors in need.
Today, an estimated 17 million additional people in the U.S. are experiencing hunger due to the impacts of COVID–19. Record numbers are unemployed, businesses are shut down, and budgets are tight. Schools are closed,
and with them the programs that feed kids. The demand on food banks has jumped exponentially.
At this critical time, #starbucks has expanded efforts to support food banks by providing over 700,000 meals across the country since we closed our cafés in response to the COVID–19 outbreak. And because limited trucks and drivers makes actually getting the food to the food banks one of the biggest challenges, we’re using our own distribution network to help reduce the logistics bottleneck.
The #starbucks Foundation is also donating $1 million to Feeding America’s COVID–19 Response Fund to support people facing hunger and the food banks who help them.
