Anheuser-Busch today celebrated the official opening of its new Commercial Strategy Office in New York City by reenacting an historic 1933 delivery of Budweiser to Lieutenant Governor Kathy Hochul marking the end of Prohibition.

Today’s delivery was made by a full hitch of eight Budweiser Clydesdales, bringing Anheuser-Busch CEO João Castro Neves and a case of replica 1933 Budweiser bottles to the new premises on 24th Street.   Over 80 years ago, Anheuser-Busch made a similar delivery of Budweiser to former New York Governor Al Smith to celebrate the end of Prohibition.

Government and community leaders, business partners and other friends in the broader beer community came together at the new Commercial Strategy Office to witness the delivery and share in the festivities.

“For over a century Anheuser-Busch has brought America’s most iconic beers to beer lovers and played an important role in New York’s economy and in the broader community,” said Mr. Neves. “The newly redesigned and rebuilt Commercial Strategy Office reflects both this rich heritage, as well as the entrepreneurial and forward-looking culture of A-B today.”

Lieutenant Governor Kathy Hochul acknowledged Anheuser-Busch’s long history contributing to the economic and cultural life of New York, noting that “For this particular office, you wanted to get the best and brightest employees in America. And you found them right here. And we’re so proud of that.”

Features of the new office include:

  • An open, light-filled design to encourage collaboration
  • Local artwork and Anheuser-Busch memorabilia throughout the space
  • Bleachers to bring people together to share knowledge and ideas, reflecting Anheuser-Busch’s mission of Bringing People Together for A Better World
  • A rooftop biergarten for employee celebrations

“The #event will be an opportunity to look back at our proud history in New York, but also to look forward to the future. We’re very excited about our increased presence in New York City and are looking forward to new opportunities to serve the community from this new office,” said Mr. Neves.
