Expo 2015 - National Day Serbia

The long-awaited concert by famous composer and musician Goran Bregovic scheduled to take place tonight in the Biomediterraneum Cluster at 8.00 pm will bring the National Day of Serbia at Expo Milano 2015 to a close. The Serbian National Day began this morning in front of the Expo Centre, with the flag-raising ceremony and the Italian and Serbian national anthems. Serbian Vice-Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ivica Dacic, and Foreign and International Cooperation Undersecretary, Benedetto Della Vedova attended the event. “It is an honour to lead the Serbian delegation which is participating in Expo Milano 2015 – said Vice-Prime Minister Dacic -. The great fortune of Serbia is the fact this Universal Exposition is being held in a Country to which we are deeply connected by our historic roots. We want to represent the best of our Country at Expo Milano 2015 and also use this grand occasion to promote collaboration on a cultural level. My hope - he added – is that the future will not only hold many more Serbian Days, but indeed years of European partnerships”. Undersecretary Benedetto Della Vedova also welcomed the Serbian delegation by emphasising the strong link between Italy and Serbia: “We are delighted that Serbia has participated in the Biomediterraneum Cluster with the excellent theme Taste food, feel life. Promoting development activities and partnership initiatives with our Italian counterparts – continued Della Vedova - is one of the main objectives we are setting ourselves in order to have people become familiar with the characteristics of each Country and carry forward the relations between them on an economic and political level.” At the end of the ceremony, the delegation visited Palazzo Italia and then reached the Serbian Pavilion, where the celebrations continued: visitors were encouraged to participate in performances by dancers in traditional dress, tasting sessions and cultural performances.
