Sushiko goes back to its origins with Casalgrande Padana’s porcelain stoneware tiles

A central “rug” created with Casalgrande Padana’s Cemento Rasato Grigio porcelain stoneware tiles characterises the new concept of renowned Japanese restaurant chain Sushiko.

The new visual and architectural concept of the renowned Sushiko restaurant chain was created by two young Italian-Iranian architects: Pedram Kalhori and Anahita Asgarpour. “Back to the Origins” is a project that pays tribute to Sushiko’s Japanese roots by redesigning its spaces and details to include a mix of iconic elements with a modern twist.

As soon as you step foot in one of these restaurants, you can feel its warm, cosy, and minimalist atmosphere created by the wood-clad walls and the sequence of golden elements that hint at traditional Japanese architecture. The dining room is characterised by a rustic cement-effect wall juxtaposed with a smooth, bright one.

But the truly distinctive feature is the flooring. The central #design hints at a Tatami and is made with 60x120 cm Cemento Rasato Grigio porcelain stoneware tiles. Their particular finish matches the cement wall, creating a two-dimensional spatial cohesion. On the other hand, the dark strip tiles from the Resina Nero collection accentuate the Tatami #design and mark the various areas of the room.

The bar counter was revamped using the 60x120 cm marble-effect porcelain stoneware tiles from the Marmoker Nero Creta collection.

The “sushi box” framed by a sequence of wooden and golden strips is another highlight that lets you have a glance at the kitchen, while the golden accents on the ceiling and in the furnishings emphasise the precious texture of the finishes.

The traditional Japanese details used for Sushiko’s new image were translated into contemporary minimalist lines in a young, elegant, and vibrant space that reflects harmoniously the delicate dishes served here.
