Innovation, sustainable quality and multiple materials: these are the distinctive features in EMU collections

Design, technology, versatility and sustainability find a meeting point in the new EMU collections, which interpret in the best possible way and anticipate style trends. Seat systems intended for the contract sector, suitable for any type of reception area, be it in hotels, restaurants or coffee bars. In response to the multiple requirements of the Ho.Re.Ca. sector, the brand has introduced into its now iconic material mix several new and interesting materials, which contribute to making its offer inimitable. The investment dedicated to the development of innovative production processes with a low environmental impact, once again confirms that EMU is a leading company worldwide in the #design and manufacturing of outdoor furnishing for communal areas.

The 2020 novelties include the Carousel collection, designed by Sebastian Herkner and consisting of dining armchair and lounge chair. It is an extremely original Industrial #design product, which perfectly matches any setting. The distinctive and elegant feature of the seat is the enveloping aluminium armrest, modelled in 3-D which gives it a unique character. Its aluminium frame is completed by several textures and materials, which result – as if on a carousel – in several possible combinations. Thanks to an attractive balance of elements, where rigid and soft parts alternate, Carousel is the ideal way to customize outdoor spaces, guaranteeing maximum comfort and functionality.

The RioR50 collection, by the designers Anton Cristell and Emanuel Gargano, consists of an chair and an armchair, lounge chair available also in the rocking chair version, stool and coffee table. RioR50 pays tribute to the most iconic #emu seat, Rio, the historical model produced in more than eight million pieces, which in 2020 will celebrate its 50th anniversary. The traditional iron rod and tubular structure is made unique by the exclusive and original folding gesture obtained with by deep-drawing the seat, which makes it extremely ergonomic. A new look to celebrate the 1970s, whose shape – solid and lightweight at the same time – is the result of perfect balance between comfort, aesthetics and company. This product is especially suitable for contract settings, and it is possible to stack up to eight pieces.

The evocative value of memory has inspired Como by Studio Angeletti Ruzza, a collection which naturally fits into any environment, regardless of its architectural connotation. The result is a contemporary classic, whose distinctive trait is the steel tube frame connected with rods made of the same material, which make up the decoration motif of the backrest and produce a more refined appearance. The Como collection, suited for the contract sector and with the possibility of stacking up to four pieces, consists of chair and armchair, armchair with high backrest, lounge chair and sofa.

The Breeze collection, designed by Chiaramonte-Marin, consists of chair and armchair. It is versatile and perfect for the contract sector, also because you can stack up to eight pieces. The aluminium frame and the technical fabric fixed onto the backrest result in a lightweight #design which is extremely resistant, reminding us spontaneously of relaxing and convivial rooms, focused on comfort and functionality.

The Tami modular seat system, designed by Patrick Norguet, now includes a new corner element, which completes its structure making it even more versatile. Harmonious proportions, linear and elegant shapes, are the characteristics of this collection designed for multiple uses and ergonomic requirements.

The Contract proposals for 2020 also include Ficus, designed by Chiaramonte-Marin, a steel sculpture inspired by the characteristics of the Cactus plant, strong and able to resist adversities by regenerating into different forms. Available in two formats and as many complements, Ficus is bound to become the focal point of the room when it is emphasized by its lighting “leaf”.

Last but not least, the 2020 collection includes the new Star range (designed by EMU): lounge chair and small sofa. Very colourful and informal, the new products fit into multiple outdoor settings, for the private and contract sector, perfectly suited for large spaces, with the possibility of stacking up to eight pieces. They have a steel frame, while seat and backrest are made of hot galvanised sheet.

The investment on researching materials and developing innovative production processes with a low environmental impact, has led to important certifications being awarded to the company, for example EN 581-1, EN 581-2, EN 581-2 for chairs and tables and FSC for wood components, as well as – more recently - ISO-9001 for the #design, manufacturing and commercialization of furniture.
