The Fratelli #guzzini company history reveals impressive credentials in the areas of ethics, social responsibility and innovation. The business is now even more strongly convinced of the role companies must play in tackling environmental issues.

“Our commitment started a long time ago,", comments #domenicoguzzini, the Chairman of the company from Italy's Marche Region. "Thirty years ago, we sponsored the #design Memorandum, a group of #design academics and theorists led by the then chair of the ADI (Italian Industrial #design Association), which took on the question of #design ethics in the industrial age. In 2002, with Conai, we launched the New Domestic Trashscape competition, for #design of a container to facilitate the recycling of household waste. In 2008, with the RE-NATURE project, we produced a line of ornaments and furnishings derived from the reuse and recycling of a specific acrylic, SAN, obtained from surplus material during the production phase. Nature does not produce waste and we have to learn from her by inventing new processes and new formulae," #domenicoguzzini concludes.

This is the challenge, especially with regard to technologies, that #guzzini has accepted, and for 2019 it is launching the CIRCLE programme, to transition from the "material-production-use-waste" production chain to the circular "recovery-recycling-production-reuse- recovery" system.

Circle comprises products made from Recycled Plastic eco-sustainable materials, with improved functional performances. It is a complex, high-precision procedure which processes recycled materials. With Circle, #guzzini gives value to circularity: objects become tools, central to the relations between #people and the environment, for lasting use and reuse. This means regenerating; it means producing things with their recovery, and a new formal and functional purpose, in mind. The Tidy&Store boxes and organiser trolleys, new for 2019, are a tangible example.

Brogliato Traverso: a strip of acrylic material to create a truly unusual wine cellar.

Announcing the birth of CUVÉE, the bottle rack with elegant, refined #design, also an attractive ornament thanks to its original form: a strip of clear, white or black acrylic material, sinuously interwoven to create a universal wine cellar able to take up to 5 bottles and accommodate both the standard "Bordeaux" and the large "Champagne" sizes. This versatility is a completely new factor for the market. Cuvée is modular, as two wine cellars can be stacked to hold up to 9 bottles.

Sold in an exclusive gift box, the wine cellar is an original gift idea, mainly intended for men (including both real connoisseurs and eager enthusiasts) but also perfect for women, who respond to its almost dreamlike effect; in the clear version, the bottles seem almost to float on air.

Pio&Tito Toso: tidiness with glamour.

Also new are the new organiser trolleys for use inside and outside the home: the idea was created by Pio and Tito Toso, who returned to the Tidy&Store boxes, launched at the beginning of last year, and came up with genuine tools for making things neat and tidy not only in the kitchen but also in other rooms of the home, from the bathroom to the children's bedroom. The trolleys, easy to move around thanks to their wheels, come in two different configurations and heights: one has 3 deep boxes (46 x 32 x H 89cm) and the other 2 deep plus 1 shallow boxes (46 x 32 x H 77.3 cm). The first version has a top which can transform into a useful chopping-board thanks also to 4 antislip feet. The boxes are removable and easily transportable. The 2 organiser trolleys are available both in conventional plastics in white colour and in the new Recycled Plastic in pale grey: this product is 100% eco-sustainable, even down to the packaging materials (packs, ties, bags, etc.), all made from regenerated material.

In view of the success of the Tidy&Store boxes, perhaps due to their evocative shape or maybe their durable, easily washed plastic materials, for 2019 #guzzini offers two new sizes, one extra-large and one extra-small. This creates a collection of 4 boxes with different sizes, available in 4 colours - white, clay, grey and blue. With this extension, the organiser concept escapes from the kitchen to embrace every room in the home. Tidy&Store boxes are useful in wardrobes to take belts or shoes, in the laundry for detergents or in the larder for fruit and vegetables, in the office for stationery or on the windowsill as a pot trough. Versatile and fun, they are sold individually or in sets of three boxes (two S and one M box) or of two boxes (one L and one M box). Just like the trolleys, the entire Tidy&Store box range is available both in conventional plastics and in the new Recycled Plastic in pale grey: again, this product is 100% eco-sustainable, even down to the packaging materials (packs, ties, bags, etc.), all made from regenerated material.

Spalvieri & Del Ciotto: the timeless beauty of contemporary containers inspired by the past.

The starting point was inspiration from one of Luigi Massoni's cult pieces, the Cubo bowl launched in 1959. The square but not rigid shape, the thick materials, the alluring textures: all features Spalvieri & Del Ciotto have picked up, brought up to date and transferred to the new Store&More series of airtight containers. Elegant, versatile airtight containers with lid, ideal for storing food in the freezer or fridge, heating it in the microwave, and transporting and serving it inside and outside the home. These new containers' distinctive features are the lid with valve and the window: the breather valve allows the containers to be put in the microwave with the lid on to prevent splashes or spills, while the window gives a convenient view of the contents.

The containers also have a special, innovative, completely airtight double seal, guaranteed 100% leak proof and making them suitable for transportation. Thanks to their size and their square shape, they are stackable, space-saving and nesting.
The finish is matt on the outside and glossy on the inside. There are five colour variants available (with an elegant tone-on-tone effect between the container's lid and body), Clay, Ochre Yellow, Sage Green, Grey and Blue, with six sizes, three shallow and three deep (SHALLOW containers 450, 975 and 1900 cc; DEEP containers 750, 1550 and 2800 cc). Dishwasher-proof, they are resistant to high temperatures and scratches.

Spalvieri & Del Ciotto: the gap between indoors and outdoors has never been so small.

It can create a mood, play with light or protect from insects ... It's Rapa Nui, a multipurpose object designed as an elegant holder for fragrant sticks, for use as a delightful outdoor candlestick, or, in summer as a mosquito coil base. The diffuser comes without stand, for use on a table or on the ground, and in version with supporting pole. Made in melamine, it will be available in six colour variants: black, white, grey, coral red, blue and yellow. Delivery: MAY.

The idea of enjoying hot or cold drinks on the move is increasingly popular everywhere, as objects become "nomadic", able to occupy different spaces and serve different functions depending on our needs. #guzzini launches “Energy” and “Everyday”, the new steel travel bottles in thermal and plain versions.

Tough and lightweight, with a leak-proof airtight seal that makes them drip-proof and a large mouth to simplify refilling with liquids, adding ice-cubes and cleaning. The "Energy" thermal version keeps your beverages hot for 12 hours or cold for 24 hours thanks to its steel double wall which also prevents condensate from forming on the outside.

Made from excellent quality, food-approved 304 (18/ 8) stainless steel, it protects the liquids inside from flavour contamination. Free from BPA, phthalates and toxins, this creation by Spalvieri & Del Ciotto is an excellent alternative to single-use plastic bottles. Delivery: MAY.

VINTAGE PLUS, new uses for evergreen #design
