Guida Michelin San Francisco

Michelin is pleased to unveil the new selection in the #michelin Guide #sanfrancisco 2017, which illustrates the high standard of cuisine to be found throghout the region.

In this selection, the restaurant Quince gets three stars. "For several years now we have closely watched chef Michael TUSK’s cuisine; classic cuisine with Italian flavours that the chef has gradually developed to become more and more contemporary over time. In his cuisine every dish, even the simplest, is exceptional," comments Michael Ellis, the International Director in charge of the #michelin Guides. "It is these fine, sophisticated creations using precise techniques, which now make Quince a unique experience for the customer: an experience that is worth the trip." In all, the #michelin Guide #sanfrancisco now has 6 restaurants with three stars – the others being Benu, The French Laundry, Manresa, Saison, and The Restaurant at Meadowood.

The #michelin Guide #sanfrancisco has also selected one new two star restaurant, Lazy Bear. Opened in 2014, the self-taught chef David BARZELAY manages to showcase his dishes and the quality of his ingredients through his highly technical style and carefully thought out preparations. In total, seven restaurants have been awarded two stars in the #michelin Guide #sanfrancisco 2017.

This year seven new restaurants have been awarded one star, taking the total number of one-star restaurants in this selection to forty-one: Jū-ni, a restaurant that mixes Japanese techniques with Californian touches and where chef Geoffrey LEE offers an "omakase" experience - customers put themselves in the hands of the chef who selects which sushi will be served; in Mister Jiu's, where the chef Brandon JEW offers modern Chinese cuisine with California accents; Mosu, the restaurant where the chef Sung ANH serves contemporary Asian cuisine; Hashiri, run by a trio of Japanese chefs, where the menus are built around seasonal ingredients and flavours, and Adega, the first starred restaurant in the Bay area to offer Portuguese cuisine; and The Progress. Two restaurants that had lost their stars won them back this year: Madera, a restaurant that had lost its star won them back this year as chef Peter RUDOLPH has refocused his cuisine,

The selection in the #michelin Guide #sanfrancisco 2017 is available via the #michelin Restaurants US application, and is also available in bookshops for $12.95.
