The culture of wine and spirits will be the protagonist of Best Wine Stars 2023

The Milanese tasting event Best Wine Stars returns with its fourth edition from 20h to 22nd May at Palazzo del Ghiaccio, giving the public many novelties and numerous confirmations.

The over 200 selected Italian and international companies from the food, wine and spirits sectors will be part of a project that aims to create engaging opportunities for further study for both experts and lovers.

For this edition we wanted to give greater value to the participating companies also through a narrative focused on their stories to help visitors better understand their territory and their values. For this reason, in addition to the tastings, there will be lots of contents and insights, that will better investigate some highly topical issues in the sector", says Enzo Carbone, founder and CEO of Prodes Italia. Then he continues, “I’m also very proud of having involved as relators of the masterclasses exclusively female, serious and competent sommeliers, testifying to the fact that in Italy the pink competence of taste-vins is increasingly growing”.

Also for 2023, the protagonists of the event will be the masterclasses, divided between vertical and group, chaired by the writer, digital narrator, sommelier and entrepreneur Adua Villa supported by a team of excellent speakers: Valentina Vercelli, professional journalist who writes for La Cucina Italiana, Condé Nast Traveller, Slowine and Civiltà del Bere; Stefania Vinciguerra, Chief Editor of DoctorWine; Alessandra Piubello, journalist of the most important national and international trade magazines and the only woman curator of a guide in Italy, the first ever published, the Guida Oro I Vini di Veronelli and the speaker and winemaker of Radio Deejay, Francesco Quarna.

Different topics will be covered and they will range from sustainability to wines in amphorae, to marketing in the wine sector. In particular, the latter will be the key topic of the vertical masterclass dedicated to the company L'Astemia Pentita, the winery with an unconventional spirit that combines the art of wine with that of design.

The passion and experience of the Fiorotto 1934 company, passed from generation to generation, the careful selection and care for nature of the Azienda Agricola Vestri and the strong dedication to the Valdobbiadene and Conegliano area of Col Vetoraz, will be the themes discussed during the tastings of their most prestigious labels.

As for the group masterclasses, the companies involved will be, among others, Borgoverde, Cantina Nepos Villae, Cantina La Lignite, Marisa Cuomo e Società Agricola Bulichella.

Absolute novelties of this edition are the round tables and talks that will see the involvement of well-known personalities in the world of wine such as the journalist, TV host and "gastronomy reporter" Edoardo Raspelli who will talk about his very long experience in the food and wine sector through an interview. The journalist of Il Sole 24 Ore, writer and professor of digital communication Barbara Sgarzi, on the other hand, will explore the role of women in the world of wine with a broader look at the changes and innovations deriving from the entry into the vineyard and into the cellar of the new generations. Adua Villa will present her new book, "Tutto in una notte", an in-depth study of the most sought-after food/wine pairings in 2022 written in the company of a new tool: the artificial intelligence.

Following last year's excellent results, the world of distillates will have a greater and more important space in the event with the introduction of a particular tasting dedicated to spirits thanks to the Bartales Tasting Room entitled "Bitter is Better", led by Fabio Bacchi , that will take as his theme the history of the amaro and its evolution and the corporate storytelling, accompanied by the tasting of a product for each participating company.

The companies chosen for this thematic educational belong to some of the oldest, iconic and celebrated Italian companies with a very current and particular constant: they are all run by women who have managerial power in production and management.

For the first time, Best Wine Stars will cross the borders of Palazzo del Ghiaccio and will bring companies and their products to the center of Milan with the "Best Wine Stars Business Dinner" project organized in collaboration with Mattia Metta, consultant and creator in communication of the world of wine. The new format, that will take place inside the elegant and welcoming Dasein Pane & Champagne lounge, will be an excellent opportunity to present and tell journalists and selected sector operators the excellence of each individual company, combining them with dishes specially designed for each label.

All to create a unique moment of confrontation and dialogue, in the exclusivity of the Milanese panorama.
